ottobre 2018

Milan, October 2018 - A sphere to reduce Parkinsonian tremors; a device for the early detection of respiratory diseases; sensors that transform the current inhalers into smart connected devices.... These are just some of the solutions devised by the teams participating in the third edition of Open Accelerator (OA), the international acceleration programme in the field of Life Sciences initiated by Zcube, Research Venture of the Zambon pharmaceutical group.

Thanks to a structured and rigorous process involving experts, advisors, key opinion leaders and investors, 11 projects were selected from the 78 applications received in response to the call for projects 2018 which for the first time focused specifically on the therapeutic areas of the Central Nervous System and the Respiratory System and on the following technologies: Wearable and Digital Health, Big Data, Medical Devices, Biomarkers and Diagnostics and Drug Delivery Systems.

Eleven international teams will participate in the acceleration programme launched on September 14th together with Deloitte's Officine Innovazione and with the support of the initiative's partners: Italian Angels for Biotech, Innogest, Premio Marzotto, Unicredit, StartLab, Bird & Bird legal firm.

  1. Lung Passport (Minsk, Belarus)
  2. Mobile GaitLab (N├╝rnberg, Germany)
  3. Amiko (London, United Kingdom)
  4. Vilim ball (Kaunas, Lithuania)
  5. TherA (Berlin, Germany)

Aimed at encouraging further development of the projects, the Open Accelerator programme will run until the end of November and includes a mix of on-site sessions at the OpenZone scientific campus near Milan (Bresso) and online, customised for the various startups. The backbone of the programme is the robust mentorship of various experts (at least four for each startup) sharing their scientific and business skills.

At the end of the programme the best startups will have the opportunity to receive a seed investment up to a maximum of 100,000 euros (per project) and to start a strategic partnership with Zambon.
